  3. This small piece of information would give some ope to parents of autistics kids that think it is the end of the world. While it is so hard to deal with or manage an autistic child, the parents would have a ray of hope knowing that with the right treatment and therapy, the autistic child can be the best they can be

I think the bulk of management should be directed at parents and care givers, who should know about the childs condition, know about behaviour modification techiques, special schooling and the need to see a psychiatrist.

  5. @anonymous: It may be comforting for parents and caregivers of autistic people to know that an autistic child may be the next Einstein but it is extremely difficult knowing what they would go through to raise that child. Patience and understand go hand in hand with information and resources to ensure that they develop to the peak of their abilities

    2. @Anonymous 8 April 2013 14:20: I'm glad you mentioned a key issue in educating autistic children. Their education or teaching methods are totally different from that of other children which makes it very important that they attend special schoools which give them quality attention and individualized counseling as well as therapy when needed. Some of the kids require speech physiotherapists. Fortunately, we now have such schools in Nigeria eg. Patrick Speech and Language Centre, Lagos (commonly called Patrick's) is a unique centre for children with Autism Spectrum Disorders, Asperger Syndrome and other related developmental disabilities. There are also options for home-based therapy as well.
